A man is at his place of work one day, and at the end of the day he turns of the lights and goes home.  The next day, he sees on the news, that a lot of people died and it was all his fault.  What is his occupation?

Suppose you have nine coins and a balance scale.  All the coins weigh the same except one which is a little heavier.  How can you figure out, using the scale only twice, which one is the heavy one?

If you figure out the answer to either of these questions, feel free to reply.  Please do not answer if you have already heard the question before.  Looking answers up is considered cheating.

OK, so it’s been a little longer than a week since my last post.  I’ve been sort of busy.  I was expecting the Dems to take the senate, but I expected them to win by a few less than they did.  I was only off by one seat in the senate, but that one seat was enough to swing control to the Dems.  Notre Dame is now out of the National Championship race, but we can still finish with a good season if we beat USC on Saturday and win our bowl game.

Happy Thanksgiving,

mathnd

I know I haven’t posted on this thing for the looongest time.  I’ve been busy with schoolwork, but from now on, I’m going to try to post once a week.  Election Day is coming up on Tuesday.  My prediction is for the Republicans to have 50 seats, Democrats to have 49, and 1 independent, who will vote with the democrats for Harry Reid.  This will allow the GOP to just barely maintain the majority, because as the vice president, Dick Cheney has the power to break the ties in the Senate.  In the House, I think the Democrats will take control by a hair, but I don’t have a specific prediction of the number of seats, because there are too many races to keep track of in the House.  Notre Dame still has a long shot at the national championship in football.  Notre Dame must win out, Michigan must beat Ohio State, and USC should preferably win the rest of their games except Notre Dame.  Even then, Notre Dame still may not make it the national championship game, but they have a chance.  CV stinks this year, even losing to Cedar Cliff last night.  Their 4-6 record was the worst ever under Coach Rimpfel.

This and That

I went to the Bronx Aug.17-20 with my youth group on a trip with Eastern Mennonite Missions.  It was a really good experience.  We did various service projects in the community, and learned a great deal about God.  One thing that I was reminded about is that I need to spend much more time listening to God.  Usually when I pray, I ask God for various things and then I say Amen, without listening to what He has to say.  I hope and pray this will change.  This past weekend, my youth group supposedly went to Hersheypark.  It was really fun, but unfortunately, only three people from the youth group came.  I am definitely not looking forward to school beginning on Wednesday.  I wish summer break would last longer.  I am looking forward to the start of football season though, and I think Notre Dame will be pretty good.  Their offense will be phenomenal, and their defense will be much improved from last year.
